About the Journal

Overview

Macquarie Matrix: Undergraduate Research Journal is an online, open access publication that publishes peer reviewed, high quality, original undergraduate, honours and masters student research work. Submissions are accepted from all fields of study.

Macquarie Matrix
recognises the University’s commitment to research-based learning and teaching. Each year many students complete high quality research projects in laboratories, in the field or from documentary sources; write insightful reviews; or produce creative works based on their research. Publication of the Journal provides an opportunity for the University to fulfil its social obligations by disseminating to the wider community the findings of this research done by students as part of their education. Participation in the process of publication allows student authors and reviewers to further develop important graduate capabilities, including communication and critical thinking skills. Importantly, it encourages students to communicate their findings or outputs to a range of audiences.

Eligibility

The lead author of the work must be a current undergraduate, honours or masters student at Macquarie University or the research must have been conducted while the lead author was a student at Macquarie University. Staff members should not be included as authors, but may be acknowledged if appropriate.

Frequency

After its initial publication in December 2011, Macquarie Matrix will be published online twice per year. All published research is subjected to a double-blind peer review process.

Scope

The Journal exists to promote and disseminate findings from research done by Macquarie University undergraduate and honours students. Submissions of high quality research findings from any discipline area are welcomed, including essays, data-based reports, historical research and creative works.
